Item description

#12 in the Tom Swift Jr. series. Grosset and Dunlap hardcover publication. Copyright 1958. Printed around 1959. Likely a second printing, since the rear dust jacket flap lists to #13 Space Solartron (1958) and the internal book list cites #14 Electronic Retroscope (1959) as the last title. Author "Victor Appleton II." Victor Appleton the first was the Stratemeyer Syndicate pen name for the initial Tom Swift series. Very good, clean blue tweed book. Sturdy spine and hinges. Blue and white space lab endpapers. "100100" designation on upper right corner of dust jacket front flap. No writing/markings. Very nice dust jacket with minimal flaws, but there is mild chipping at top of jacket spine. In this one, Tom develops the Challenger craft, a high-speed solar-powered gyroscopic aircraft that can reach the moon in a few hours; this craft is also used by him in some of the subsequent books. Note to New York state residents: an 8.75% sales tax is applicable. (TSA12)
