THE AMERICAN COMMONWEALTH NEW AND REVISED EDITION SET OF TWO HARDCOVER BOOKS, VOLUMES I AND II BY JAMES BRYCE PRINTED BY THE MACMILLAN COMPANY, 1917 Please see the pictures provided for a sense of the condition of this old set of hardcover books. There are stickers applied to each of the front boards, as pictured. Both books have slightly loose hinges. I have repaired the front and rear hinges of Volume 1 with Brodart adhesive. Nevertheless, the both hinges of both books are slightly loose, and there are several areas within each book that show looseness. Neither book is in danger of coming apart, but you should know that both books have a general loose feel. The top page edges have a decorative gilt top stain. The outer and bottom page edges are actually remarkably free of soiling and foxing - very light uniform soiling/age tone and no foxing. The pages of the books are slightly age toned but are mark free. The books have no previous ownership marks (other than the stickers applied to the inside of the front boards). Neither book has an unpleasant odor or any mustiness. They are clean books. The covers show general wear, customary with 100 years of age. In general they are in good condition.
