Item description

SAFLAX - Taiwan Cherry - Cerasus campanulata syn. Prunus c. - 10 seeds - With potting substrate for better cultivation Small and frost-hardy garden tree with pinky bell-flowers! With germfree and permeable potting substrate based on coconut fiber for suceessful cultivation. The small Taiwan Cherry produces from its third spring on, numerous dark-pink coloured flowers that look like a bell. The small cherry fruits draw many birds in their search for food. The tree is frost-hard and grows between three and six meters high and is perfectly suited for cultivation as garden tree in temperate regions. Natural Location: The Taiwan Cherry has its natural habitat in China, Taiwan, Japan and Vietnam, where it mainly grows in heights of around 900 meters. Cultivation: Seed propagation indoors is possible throughout the year. It is advisable to stratify the seeds first, which means to stimulate and prepare the seed with a cold treatment. For that you have to keep it sealed in a plastic bag in the regular refrigerator for about one week. After that, place the seeds for another day in warm water for priming, so that the swelling further increases its germinability. Now you can plant the seeds about 1 cm deep into moist potting compost. Cover the seed container with clear film to prevent the earth from drying out, but dont forget to make some holes in the clear film and take it every second or third day completely off for about 2 hours. That way you avoid mold formation on your potting compost. Place the seed container somewhere bright and warm with a temperature between 15C and 20 Celsius and keep the earth moist, but not wet. Usually, the first seedlings come up after four to ten weeks. Place: The plant likes to be kept in a warm, bright and preferably full sunny place. Care: The Taiwan Cherry doesnt need any special soil and can be cultivated in almost every type of garden earth. Tub plants need to be watered regularly, and also in outdoor plants has the earth to be kept constantly moist and should not dry out during the hot season - instead you should water penetratingly two or three times a week. From March until September, you best provide your plant with organic fertilizer once a month. During Winter: Tub plants require a proper frost-protection with fleece or bubble wrap. Since the plant casts the leaves in winter, it needs accordingly less water and light. Outdoor plants are already frost-hard with its first year.
