(2) Two Antique Real Photo Postcards. Depicting the aftermath of the June 16, 1920 Berry Brothers stable fire in downtown Rockland, Maine as seen from Winter Street looking south. Photos are dated June 20, 1920. Divided back, AZO stampbox, not postally used. Condition: Top image depicting wide view of destruction has two creases as shown and penciled date in upper left corner. The second image is a close up view of the same building shown on the left of the wide view. It is in excellent condition. Comments: On June 16, 1920, four business blocks burned in the downtown business district, causing nearly half a million dollars in damages, according to "Shore Village Story," a history of Rockland. A business block was defined as a building with multiple businesses in it. Ten stores, four offices, a lodging house, a suite of apartments, a livery stable, a large carriage house, a blacksmith shop, two double tenement houses, and a home were reportedly lost in the fire. It reportedly began in the Berry Brothers stable.
