The plants tolerate salt grow well in tidal marshes, coastal wetlands, bogs, but can grow in almost normal garden conditions. The foliage is very decorative with deeply cut leaves, the plants are deer resistant. From spring to fall, showy flower spikes are covered with 1” blooms that attract bees, butterflies (it is also a butterfly host plant), HUMMINGBIRDS. They make a great cut flower too!
