Back in the day elementary children used these savings cards to learn the art of saving money. Each week or month they would put a dime in the card and when the card was full they would go to the bank with a parent and deposit the money into a savings account, and then fill the card all over again, or the teller would give a new card to start. The card is from Penn Federal savings and Loan Association of Philadelphia in the 1600 block of Walnut Street. The piece has been in a smoke free environment. The manufacturer was Handford Brown Company of Fort Lee NJ. This a used item so there are dime shaped circle areas where you can see the shape of the coin on the front and back of the card, although not readily apparent.
