LIFE'S COVER. The whirling girl on the cover is Betty Grable from Missouri. This month she is making her first appearance on Broadway as a musical-comedy actress in Du Barry Was a Lady. Betty is 5 ft. 3 in. tall, has honey-colored hair, a pleasantly breezy manner on stage. Born in St. Louis, she moved to Hollywood when she was 14 to enter dancing school. Without much publicity she danced in half a dozen movies, then toured with Jackie Coogan in vaudeville and married him in 1937. For another view of Miss Grable and her hit show, see page 61.
