Jules Moigniez - 19th Century French Sculptor Description: Jules Moigniez (1835 - 1894), after, a patinated bronze, Avant La Course, signed and titled in the maquette, 35cm high x 15cm 12 1/2" high s 15 1/2" w x 4" 18.2 lb A giltbronze model of a race hourse with jockey up 'cheval de course et sonjockey' The slight rider with hand to his brow looking over his right sholder.The horse in standing pose raise on anaturalistic grassy oval plinth base . first Exibition was at the Exposition univercelle paris in 1855 from 1859 he Exhibited regularly at the salon untill his retiremnt in 1892.His work is renowned for it excellent detail crisp handling and fine casting due in great part to the fact that his father set up a fundry in 1857 sloley to cast hisson's this model is illustrated in les bronzes du xixe siecle .p.kjellberg.les edition de lamateur paris page 496.
