Today’s offering is a Bavarian style Red Ware 4-piece set of Ceramic Desert Plates/Saucers that is hand painted in white and blue with a solid pewter-grey background. I have other pieces available that I’m selling separately for those who might be missing one from their own personal set. These belonged to my grandmother who was from Germany and passed away in 2010 at 94 years old. I am just now willing to part with some of her pieces since there’s no point in the having to keep them in storage and not used by someone who may have a cherished set with missing pieces. I do not know if they were purchased in Germany or if they are American or Mexican Talavera made since I could not find a manufacturer’s mark. I believe the high quality of this Red Ware is much better than Talavera. However, I remember my grandmother using many of these types of sets for her German Coffee klatches with her girlfriends back in the 1960’s and the way they were having so much fun I’d bet there was more than coffee in their cups! ? Description: Red Ware Ceramic Clay Desert Plates/Saucers with Bavarian floral motif. Plates measures approximately 7-3/4” inches in diameter. Condition: This four piece plate/saucer set is in excellent condition showing no signs of fading, crazing, cracks, chips or fleabites. It is highly glazed and smooth to the touch and looks almost brand new. DETAILS: As with all vintage stoneware, ceramic, or porcelain items, there may be pottery irregularities such as, bumps, bubbles, glaze pops, dips and glazing slips, color variations, ink/paint spots under the glaze, mold lines, etc., within or on each piece from the manufacturing process. These are things that happen when pottery is manufactured or fired. However, this does not take away value from the overall purpose and look of these beautiful china pieces. Any chips, cracks, fleabites, scratches and crazing etc., which has happened after the manufacturing of the item, will be described as such in the paragraph above. FINE PRINT: As with most antique and vintage items I do not clean, polish or in any way change the content of this item due to possibly affecting its original prominence and value. I leave that decision up to the new owner and reselling this item “As Is – As Found”. And… as with ANY vintage item they have been previously owned so there may be signs of normal wear.
