Item description

Automatic Electric "Monophone" telephone, also known as the AE40, was produced between 1938 to the early 1950s. It is made of heavy Bakelite. This phone shows a 10-digit El Paso, TX phone number - (915) 452-3236. 10-digit dialing was introduced in 1947, but the first 10-digit phone call didn't occur until November 10, 1951, so this phone is probably from that time period. Untested - sold as-is. Bakelite needs polishing and both cords need replaced. Dialer spins but the return is very sticky and noisy. Internals will need cleaning and lubricating. Should make for a fun restoration project of a vintage and stylish war-era telephone.
