There are basically three formulations available: Wax, Wax/Resin, and Resin. The formulation to use is based on the material of the facestock that is being printed. According to printer manufacturer specifications, the ribbon should always be slightly wider than the media on which you are printing. The Wax formulation is recommended for use on thermal transfer labels and tags with paper facestocks. May also be used on some synthetic facestocks such as polypropylene (BOPP).
