K (Jones) and J (Smith) are top-secret government operatives, investigating alien visitations on Earth, who must stop terrorist extraterrestial Vincent D'Onofrio from causing a galactic disaster. Excellent chemistry between deadpan Jones and hip-hop Smith is strengthened by a very funny script. Director Barry Sonnenfeld tops it off with just enough detail and human element to keep the special effects from stealing the show, and with Rick Baker around, that's not easy to do. MEN in BLACK 2: Kay (Jones) had returned to civilian life at the end of the first film (with no memory of his past erased by the neuralizer), while Jay (Smith) went on with the Men in Black. When evil alien Serleena (Lara Flynn Boyle) takes the entire MiB hostage, lone escapee Jay must convince Kay to help him save the galaxy. Plenty of amusing scenes mostly provided by the supporting players. Patrick Warburton is funny as an early MiB washout, Tony Shalhoub provides some instant energy, and the talking dog does officers work.
