A Symbol of Beauty and Resistance
The melhfa is a long rectangular piece of cloth that can be made of any colour or mixture of colours (some patterns are true artworks), it is a type of Tuareg Clothing, although traditionally they used to be black or black and white. Saharawi and Tuareg women (and also Mauritanian) wrap a part of it around their body forming a kind of dress and they place the rest of it over their head and shoulders, it wraps around the body to keep the wind fresh and keep the body at a low temperature.
