Item description
Antique Original 1790 Connecticut Gazette Newspaper Historic Americana
New London Printed by Timothy Green and Son, Vol. XXVII Numb. 1386
Single sheet printed front and back, the text seems to cut off at the end of the reverse page, making it appear that more page were originally included
Content includes advertisements for goods, legal notices including notice about runaway light skinned "servant boy", back page summarizes some Congressional actions and resolutions regarding soldiers' pay, term limits for President, Vice-President, Representatives, and Senators, a bill for provision of public debt for the new nation, an Extract about slavery, the gist of it seems to be an argument that children of slaves born in America should be the property of the slave owner, plus notices from other cities including Georgetown, Philadelphia and New York
Rare
Measures about 15-3/4 x 10"
Pre-owned, please review photos to assess condition (bottom left corner chipped off, tear visible on edge of first column under William Hubbard, other aging and wear visible), found inside plexiglass frame at book collector's estate sale in Pasadena, California, thought about removing from frame but bottom screws are pretty tight, plus with fragility of item left as found for the buyer, we note that a trace of the bottom edge protrudes from the bottom of the frame so removing the page has to be done with great care
Item location: Back warehouse, Right, 4th Bay, Large Poster Bin
