As a wall hanger, the hat works well because the signature is across the brim, and would be clearly visible while hanging on the wall.
I'm not sure when the hat was signed, but Pat Quinn has coached the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks as well as Team Canada in the Olympics. He passed away in 2014.
The autograph is clear and visible across most of the bill of the hat. The hat shows heavy signs of wear, including dark smudges and staining around the sweatband. It seems to be a work hat that was being worn at the time the fan ran into Mr. Quinn.
