Quetzalcóatl Temple : The Temple of the Feathered Serpent is Inside the large inner plaza of The Citadel in Teotihuacán. Built around 250 AD, this building is unique thanks to its architectural features, being mainly elements of great political and religious symbolism attached to the facades. The alfarda is decorated with big serpent heads; on the slopes are carved, in bas-relief, undulating snakes with their bodies covered in feathers, accompanied by aquatic motifs such as shells and corals. The boards show two types of alternate figures, placed on a serpentine background with aquatic motifs. One is the representation of Quetzalcóatl, consisting of the head of a snake emerging from a species of eleven-petal flower; the other represents Tláloc, the god of rain.
