The Start Capacitor is an OEM part for Frigidaire combination washer/dryer laundry centers. It refers to an electronic component located within the motor control circuit board. 

This capacitor helps initiate drum movement by providing a boost of electrical current to the drive motor during appliance activation or changes in rinse/spin speed. Smooth start-ups and shifts in agitation depend on proper current delivery.

Causes of a bad start capacitor can be cracking of the outer casing from extended duty cycles or voltage fluctuations degrading dielectric plates inside over many years.

Symptoms include:

• Struggling motor that strains excessively to turn the drum
• Cycles failing to advance after starting or resume spinning  
• Unsteady or intermittent pulsing agitation noises
