Vintage original 11 x 14 in. US lobby card from the 1940s musical dramatic biopic, RHAPSODY IN BLUE, released in 1944 by Warner Bros. and directed by Irving Rapper, in which George Gershwin (Robert Alda) is a driven composer whose need to succeed destroys his relationship with singer Julie Adams and socialite Christine Gilbert. The cast includes Joan Leslie, Alexis Smith, Charles Coburn, Julie Bishop, and Albert Basserman.

Printed for the film's 1956 US theatrical re-release by Dominant Pictures Corp., the image depicts George Gershwin (Robert Alda) talking backstage with Julie Adams (Joan Leslie) while a male performer in black face watches them. It is unrestored in very fine condition as shown.

Oscar Levant had three functions in this film: he provided George Gershwin's piano playing as Robert Alda's double, he portrayed himself on screen and he was heard playing piano on the soundtrack as himself, Oscar Levant, in the commemorative performance of "Rhapsody in Blue" which ends the film.
