This clumping cactus forms extensive colonies up to 15 (or more) cm in diameter.

Flowers: Approximately 4 cm long, 3.5 cm in diameter, fiery-orange-red to deep scarlet, the pistil and stamens are white.
Cultivation: Full sun to light shade, Water regularly in summer but do not over water. Keep dry in winter. Hardy to -4°C.
It is better that they are re potted regularly. Re potting will increase the number and size of stems and will increase the number of flowers produced. Re pot yearly until reaching about 100 mm in size, then every two or three years will suffice. Re potting is best done at the end of winter but can be done at other times. Do not water for a couple of weeks after re potting to reduce risk of root rot via broken roots.
