Rare vintage Art Deco period novelty nut bird ash tray designed by Henry Howell & Co Ltd. Produced in the mid 1920’s - 1930’s

Measures: 4.5” tall x 3” wide 

Beak is made of a phenol formaldehyde resin an early plastic also known as bakelite. Nice bright yellow black and clear glass eyes, body of the nut bird is made from Bamboo, the base is a tight grained wood.

The underside is stamped YZ Trade Mark Made in England

Original patina other than some old scorch marks in the bowl of the ashtray it is in excellent vintage condition.
