- This award was sometimes called "The Ruptured Duck" and was given between September1939 and December 1946.
- Made of Gilt Brass however during the metal shortage this medal was made of plastic.
- Later on service members could trade in the plastic for brass
- The button depicts an Eagle inside a wreath, serving as proof to military police that the wearer was not absent without leave.
- Once discharged, the soldier could wear his uniform for up to 30 days as long as this button was sew onto the right breast
- You could also find this button on the lapels of civilian clothes for many years after the war.
