Shipping policy
SHIPPING, HANDLING & INSURANCE:
My ”Best Practices" are to do the best I can for my clients, while maintaining responsibility & integrity for myself & my small business.
I’m committed to “Truth & Transparency”.
I pack extremely well – which takes extra time to do correctly & securely.
I insure everything. I have USPS pick up & keep packages inside until they ring the door. Then I ask them to scan each package in while I watch.
I sell mostly One-of-a-Kind items, so each item is individually hand packed to meet or exceed minimum shipping company requirements.
Also, since no 2 items are identical, & some fit into USPS boxes, & others need custom sized boxes, there is no “blanket” shipping policy.
Some items can be packed & shipped within 24 hours, some may involve being crated & shipped by freight, & that could take a week or so.
“Free Shipping” doesn’t exist.
In fact, it’s costing you more in a number of ways.
1. Most sellers must pass on hard costs in order to keep themselves & their business alive. That means adding shipping costs to item price. Since shipping rates are charged by distance (zones), & sellers can’t predict which zone an item will be shipped to, sellers must add the HIGHEST possible shipping rate. I’m in Zone 1. If I offered “free shipping”, a buyer in Zone 1 would end up paying for Zone 8 (highest/furthest) shipping . Not fair.
2. Before “free” shipping became a “thing”, selling platforms only charged selling fees on the items that were sold, not shipping. Once “free” shipping began, they started charging fees on shipping, too – fees that get passed on to buyers.
3. After selling on eBay for 20+ years, I noticed that after “free” shipping began around 2008 – the last time buyers were made aware of what actual shipping costs were – that shipping companies started having ridiculously high annual rate increases – double digits, some times. I surmise that knowing that most people are not aware that’s been happening, the shippers have little risk of a national uproar. Again, sellers have to pass on those costs to buyers. “Transparency” means that you should KNOW how much you pay for shipping & insurance.
Return policy
There is no “perfect choice” in the Return Policy drop down menu.
If I make a significant mistake – like sending the wrong item – of course, I’ll pay the costs to rectify it.
If something is lost or broken during shipping, insurance will cover it (terms apply)
“No returns” is my general policy for a number of reasons.
I sell irreplaceable OOAK + high end collectibles, many of which require careful hand packing, expensive packaging materials, & even negotiated insurance from an indemnity company.
I’m committed to making sure that my clients will be happy UP FRONT.

Amazon is selling “sizzle”: “Fast & free” shipping, 30 day free returns, cheap prices.. what about the PRODUCT? (not to mention that Forbes reported that Bezos makes almost $9 MILLION per hour … just saying- you’re paying for that one way or another)
